Summer/Fall 2003: A Douglas Fir framed Salt Box in Union, CT.
This home was constructed with standing seam roofing and many windows. It is heated with an HS Tarm Multi-fuel hot water boiler with radiant heat on the first floor and baseboard heating on the second floor. A massive fireplace along with an Oak spiral staircase, heated Blue Stone finished with brick, and beautiful Oak flooring. The boiler uses oil, wood, and coal.

See some pics of a modified version of the Killington design built in Groton, Connecticut.

Because it consists of both conventional stick-built and timber frame construction, we also refer to it as a hybrid design.

A recent completion of timberframe home in Woodstock, Connecticut...

The frame was completed in early February. The next step is to install the panels and windows.

April/May: Exterior panels and windows have been installed. Final touches on roofing and chimney. Also working on a timber porch, interior studding, rough plumbing and electrical wiring.

June: Nearing completion, with siding recently installed.

Latest events on Post & Beam framing project in wintery Vermont...
All wall panels were completely installed in three days. Note the wire chases in the cross-section of the wall panels, which will make for the electrical work. Openings for the windows were cut out to the home owner's specifications. The next phase is the roof panels, which Scott and Casey are preparing for installation. In all, it will take about 6-7 days for the entire structure to be weather tight.
March 2003: panels complete; eves blocked; windows being installed. Note the beautiful window arrangement in great room.
April 2003: A passing glance at the beams from the first floor...

And another local Connecticut home recently completed...
A Douglas Fir timber frame home with Gun Stock Posts and Hammer Trusses in Cathedral Great room. There is a massive brick fire place in the Kitchen and Great Room, shared between the two rooms. The bedroom area of this home was built using structural panels with no timber frame.
