| October 2005: One of our year end projects was a Portico for a new home in Bridge Hampton, Long Island, NY. This construction consisted of 12" x 12" posts, 12" x 18" plates, 6" x8" joists, 4" x 8" knee braces, and 6" x 8" struts. All fabricated from #1 Douglas Fir Select. Louis Caswell, our mason of 17 years, has performed magic with stone and mortar. Here's a sample of one of his recent works: Owner's Pics Here are followup pics of some beautiful inside views of a Cape design completed last year in North Stonington, Connecticut. "Just wanted to send you a note to let you know
that I think the work you and your guys did out on the island is just awesome
... The post and beam really is quite dramatic and so visually appealing,
I am sure you are proud of the job, you should be. I really enjoy the
second
floor as well, not to mention the decks, great job all around." November '04: This is the beginning of a new home being built on beautiful Block Island. In this design, the timbers are being pickled which is a stain-like white wash and two coats of polyurethane.
We're now into December, and the frame is well under construction. The white-wash pickling of the beams blends in well with the beach island style that's common with other homes in the area... December '04 -- framing complete. Now it's time to install the tongue & groove pine roofing (also pickled with a white wash to match the timbers). Then on top of that goes the structural panels. There will be seven cables on this house! February '05 - Shell complete, Windows installed...
More pics from late March '05... April '05: Siding going up, and a beautiful wrap-around deck... May '05: A roadside view... October '05: Here are some pics the owner recently sent us...
