Stonington Post & Beam Homes will provide you with a fully insulated home using the highest quality materials and the newest options available.

Our frames are cut from hand-picked Eastern white pine timbers and planed to a smooth grain finish. The joinery is designed to tightly interlock our timbers and provide structural integrity, without compromising the simple lines of our frame. Oak and Douglas fir frames are also available.

A standard pine frame consists of the following hand-cut and fitted components:

• 8" x 8" posts 
• 8" x 8" plate beams 
• Common rafter style: 5" x 6"
• Purlin style: 6" x 8" trusses
• Purlins: 5" x 6" and 4" x 6" 
• Corner braces 

To complete the walls, we choose 1/2" Western red cedar clapboards with 1" pine trim, a durable and low maintenance siding that gives our homes a classic New England look. 
The roof is finished with 40 year ELK Arch shingles, available in many colors.

The second floor decking is 1-1/2" premium T&G pine nailed over the floor joists. This provides both a second floor and a finished wood ceiling for the first floor. Or sheet rock first, then wood for a more brighter ceiling.

We use a stress-skin panel system which provides a continuous envelope of insulation around the frame, adding great strength to the structure, and allowing the frame to be fully revealed on the inside. The standard wall and roof systems consist of the following: 

• 1/2" waterproof sheetrock 
• EPS foam insulation (3-9/16" wall, 5-9/16" roof or upgrade to 5-9/16" walls,7-9/16" roof) 
• 1/2" OSB
• The foam is sandwiched between the sheetrock and the OSB to form a rigid panel.
• All panels are environmentally safe

• All standard houses come with Andersen Hi-Performance windows, vinyl clad in white.
• All patio doors are Andersen Hi-Performance, vinyl clad in white with brass hardware.
• Entry doors are metal insulated. 
• Option to upgrade to Kolbe&Kolbe windows and doors.
